Project B.E.S.T.

Project BEST, which stands for Building Exemplary Scholars for Tomorrow, is a cornerstone of Student Support Services. This can be your next step to embarking on a transformative academic journey. This program is meticulously designed to bolster college retention and graduation rates, seamlessly guiding students through the intricate realm of higher education. It’s tailored to cater to the unique needs of 144 ambitious scholars, regardless of their chosen major.

Our doors are wide open to first-generation pioneers, individuals facing financial constraints, and those with documented disabilities. Completing a straightforward application and attending our mandatory orientation will open doors to a world of opportunities.

We get it!

If you’re a first-generation or non-traditional college student, you’re probably carrying the weight of your family and your community on your shoulders. No one “back home” can give you advice on how to navigate through the maze of higher education. Moreover, your classmates and professors can’t relate to the emotional and/or financial strain you endure. Project BEST is more than just an academic support program. Along with volunteer and cultural enrichment opportunities, we provide you with a safe space for confidential conversations and even meditation workshops because, despite academic achievements, you may still feel overlooked. Even as we connect with you, we connect you with vital resources for financial assistance and food security. Bottom Line: It’s not just about your classroom performance. We’re committed to your holistic well-being and success.

As a part of Project BEST Program, you can enjoy:

  • Access to Resources: Stay at the forefront of your industry and the digital age through computer (software) access including free printing and VR headsets, along with a dedicated workspace which includes scheduled tutoring.
  • Prep for Tomorrow: Attend transformative workshops and lay the foundation for graduate school, entrepreneurship and your career not only through our office but through our campus partners such as like AAP and Blackstone Launchpad.
  • Becoming an Ambassador:  Develop leadership skills through our Ambassador Initiative designed to empower our

scholars to become leaders within our community. Ambassadors play a pivotal role in representing the values and mission of Project BEST, serving as mentors, advocates, and role models for their peers.
Through participation in various outreach activities, workshops, and events, Ambassadors foster a supportive and inclusive environment, where every scholar feels valued and empowered to achieve their academic and professional goals. Additionally, Ambassadors can receive book scholarships of up to $600 per semester.
