What is Project BEST?

BEST: Building Exemplary Scholars for Tomorrow

Project BEST/Student Support Services is designed to increase the college retention and graduation rates of its participants and to assist students make the transition from one level of higher education to the next. The Project is tailored to meet the needs of 144 students who are pursuing a degree in any major.

Project BEST recruits students with SAT math scores of 490-590 or ACT scores of 18-23 and who are first generation in college students, who have a demonstrated financial need and/or those who have a documented disability.

Requirements

  • Admittance into UCF
  • Completion of Application
  • Attend Mandatory Orientation
  • First-Generation, Low Income, and/or Students with Disabilities
  • Be a scholar in the non STEM fields such as business, accounting, health services administration etc….

Virtual Resources

As we progress through the COVID-19 epidemic the TRiO Center/Project BEST program will remain operational.  To align with the university’s priority to keep students, faculty, and staff healthy, ALL Project BEST staff will be working remotely.

All operations have been converted to online via Canvas/webcourses. Services included, but are not limited to:

  • One on one appointments
    • Coordinator
    • Academic Coach
  • Private sessions
  • Private phone calls via Google Voice
  • Interactive Workshops
  • Tutoring – available via Tutor.com
  • Modules

Log-in instructions to attend appointments and workshops:

  • Log into webcourses: “General TRiO SSS (SSS)”
  • Click on the “Conferences” tab on the left side bar.
    • This will take you to the conference screen
  • Find your workshop or appointment name
    • Ex: “Time Management” or “Student First Name Last Name””
  • Click on the “Join” button.
